  Knee Braces

While most of the time we associate custom knee braces with professional athletes, their use is very common for the weekend warrior, and for the average person with mild to severe knee pain or instability.

At OrthoMedics, we primarily use custom knee braces to treat two types of knee problems:

Ligamental Instability

ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL

A custom Knee brace may be prescribed for use following knee surgery or to maintain alignment of the knee. There are multiple styles of braces available.

OrthoMedics clinicians design each custom knee brace to meet the specific needs of the person who will wear it, and what they will be doing while using the brace.

Indications:

  • Surgical reconstruction or repair or the ACL, PCL, MCL, or LCL
  • Return to activity following injury to knee ligaments
  • History of multiple knee injuries
  • Overall knee instability due to lax or missing ligaments
  • Prophylactic use to prevent knee injury

Knee Pain

Compartmental Osteoarthritis, Degenerative Joint Disease

While total knee replacement is usually the best answer for degenerative joint disease effecting the knee, there are times when it is not an option. Whether you are too young for the surgery, not medically stable enough, or just too busy, there is an orthotic option. Using a knee brace to remove weight from the arthritic portion of the knee joint can dramatically decrease knee pain.

Decreased contact = Decreased Pain!
