Bioness L300
Frequently asked Questions
What is the Ness L300 Foot Drop System?
The Ness L300 is an innovative wireless foot drop system designed for individuals seeking to improve their ability to walk normally again. This FDA cleared device uses low-level stimulation to activate the muscles that lift the foot while walking.
What is Foot Drop?
Foot Drop is a condition where the muscles in the foot are too weak to properly lift the foot and toes while walking. Foot drop is often present in persons who have conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, incomplete spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy.
Who may benefit from using the Ness L300?
The Ness L300 is intended for individuals with foot drop who are looking to increase walking speed, improve steadiness and increase confidence. The Ness L300 may replace the need to wear a rigid ankle foot orthosis (AFO), and may eliminate the need to raise your hip or swing out your leg while walking.

How does the Ness L300 work?
The Ness L300 integrates advanced technology based on Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) and consists of a small wireless gait sensor, a leg cuff, and a hand-held control unit.
The leg cuff sits just below your knee and contains a stimulation unit and electrodes. When your heel lifts, wireless signals from the gait sensor are sent to the stimulation unit in the leg cuff that stimulates the nerves to contract the muscles that lift your foot while walking.
A small, hand-held control unit allows you to turn the stimulation on or off, and adjust the intensity when needed.
What is FES?
Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) applies low level stimulation to specific parts of the body to help restore function. The Ness L300 uses non-invasive surface stimulation to help improve your ability to walk normally again.

Why is the Ness L300 Unique?
The Ness L300 uses the latest in FES wireless technology designed to help you walk more naturally and increase your mobility.
The Ness L300 is a pioneering technology that offers:
A wireless gait sensor that adjusts to real time changes in walking patterns; this wireless sensor is the key difference in helping you walk on uneven surfaces, walk backwards, or walk on slopes and stairs.
A miniature hand held control unit to conveniently turn the stimulation on or off.- Wireless technology to eliminate cumbersome wires
- Low profile shape helps assure accurate electrode placement for stimulation of the target muscles each time the leg cuff is applied.
